The subway became the only means of transportation between the Central District, Corporate District, and West Residence District when Forum City was placed on lockdown. Since the subway company only sells 1000 credit monthly passes, the lockdown stranded several people in whichever district they happened to be at the time, and even those who could afford monthly passes were limited to those three districts.

The subway's ticket dispenser uses an old firmware version that was once quite popular but is no longer understood and is expensive to maintain. Such machines are going out of style, have the benefit of being impossible to bypass with multitools, though NVShacker created a program which could insert arbitrary code into such devices. Retrieving the program is a side mission that will allow the player to get a free pass.

The West Residence District's subway station depends on a power box that can be accessed without much difficulty. Both WorldCorp and PDX are capable of disabling the subway station via this power box.

Businesses that are not near subway stations are forced to adapt or suffer. Two Clubs (Club Saint and Club Grind) are described as suffering from lack of acceptability when compared to Partyzone and its proximity of the Corporate District subway station. Carone, owner of Hotel Carone, is rumored to be creating a taxi service to compensate for the lack of a subway station in the hotel's district.

The subway is far from universally popular. Yardbomb disliked the subway enough that he created an alternate transportation system, voodoo based teleportation based in his shop. He will allow Trestkon access to this system if Trestkon completes an item gathering mission for him.
