The Nameless Mod

Voice Acting

Take note: We recommend that you check out Groovy's Guide to Recording Yourself, which contains much useful information about the process of recording your lines. If you have been hired to voice act for us, this is where you go to figure out what do to.

We are now welcoming any and all voice acting submissions! We're going to be starting with the AI barks and conversations of generic characters, and move on up to the conversations of the more important NPCs as things get finalized. Our immediate goal is to get every named character voiced by its real-life counterpart, but any time somebody is unable/unsuited to record their own lines, we will fill in with volunteer voice actors (VAs).

We'll be keeping a record of all submissions, so if you don't get a part right away, don't be too discouraged, we have lots of characters that need voicing, and we will need volunteers to fill in for major characters very late in the development timeline. We'll also do our best to respond to everyone and at least let them know we've received their submission. We'd also really appreciate any female voice actors out there making submissions; we know we're going to have a tough time finding enough women to fill out our cast.

Allow the following to answer any other questions you may have:

What do you want from me?
A sample of your voice where you show off in which ways you can change how you sound and which accents you are capable of imitating.
How long should the sample be, and in what format?
If you're attaching the submission to your email, the submission should be no more than 30 seconds. For submission purposes, your file can use whatever compression you prefer (.mp3, .wav, .ogg, etc) and should be recorded in Stereo, 44100 Hz, 16 bit. For optimum quality, record as a .wav file and use LameFE to convert to.ogg using the best quality setting (10.00).
Which program should I use to record with?
Windows sound recorder is theoretically good enough, but we recommend you use Audacity, which is both free and easy to use.
What should I say in my recording?
Anything you want. If you can't think of anything, pull some lines from Deus Ex, or your favorite book, or your physics professor.
Where do I submit my sample to?
All submissions should be emailed to us at the address at the top of this page.
