Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When is the mod going to be out?
A: Same answer as always: When it's done! We just have no idea, too many factors create fluctuations in the productivity of the team to make any reasonable estimation possible.
Q: Er... what?
A: Sorry, I ate a dictionary for lunch.
Q: Was it tasty?
A: Some ketchup would have worked miracles.
Q: How was the mod created?
A: With blood, sweat and many, many tears.
No, if you really wanna know, go here.
Q: Nono, I meant like, why was this mod created?
A: Because Trestkon wanted to make a test map with some of the members of the PDX forums in it. Let's just say it grew a little larger than he'd ever had imagined.
Q: Can I have a part in the mod?
A: Casting was closed long ago. However, as the mod nears completion we may have need of a few names, posting in our forums is your best chance, although we can't guarantee you a part.
Q: Will the mod have voice acting, and if so, will all the lines be voiced, or just some?
A: TNM will have full voice acting for every line, just like the original Deus Ex.
Q: Dude, isn't that going to take ages to record and manage?
A: Yep, it is. We figure it'll be well worth the effort though.
Q: What makes your mod different?
A: That it will be a released mod for Deus Ex. You don't see that every day. Seriously, it will be huge: New weapons, skins, maps, features and full voice acting! The fact that the mod takes place in cyberspace and that you could once get a part in it (you may still be able to if you're very lucky) also contributes to make this mod memorable.
Q: So you're saying you're the only active mod for DX?
A: If we said that, we would be lying. Other large mods which have already been released are Hotel Carone, Zodiac, Burden of 80 Proof and Redsun2020. Other active mods worthy of notice are UNATCO Born and the 2027 Project.
Q: Is it actually going to come out?
A: Isn't that what I've been telling you all along? Don't you listen to me at all? We've been working non-stop for two years, why would we quit now? The progress bar is still moving!
Q: Can I be a beta tester?
A: Beta testing applications are not being accepted at this time. We are currently in an very early alpha testing stage. We'll let everyone know when we are ready for beta and how they can apply.
Q: Well, can I join the development team, then?
A: Sure you can. If you're really up for it, you can send a sample of your work along with a short text describing yourself and your prior experience to us. We're not always looking for members, however, seeing as too large a team takes too much time to manage. Also, we only need people who are truly dedicated to finish what they start and keep in contact with us, and don't stop communicating half way through their project.
Q: Oh by the way, what's with all those odd words? What is a 'moderator'?
A: A moderator is a person on an Internet forum who is given the power to delete and close discussions, ban people from the forums etc. In the world of The Nameless Mod, a moderator is kind of like James Bond. Basically a special enforcer of the laws of the forums, working closely with the administration of the city.
Q: What is PDX, DXO and WC, then?
A: PDX is short for PlanetDeusEx, DXO is short for Deus-Ex.org (which is now DeusExGaming.com - yes, the mod took a bit longer to make than we'd thought, please direct your ridicule here) and both of those are DX fan sites on which two of the factions in the mod are based. WC is short for WorldCorp, which is a corporation invented solely for this mod, and any similarity to Microsoft is more or less coincidental.
Seriously, this isn't ever going to be finished, is it?
A: WOULD YOU JUST PLEASE LIGHTEN UP!? Have some faith in us! We have the best team in the community, and we WILL finish this bloody modification. If you don't believe me, go watch the trailer...
